4-Year Colleges and Universities

• Offer programs leading to Bachelor's, Master's and advanced degrees

• Some 4-year colleges have a traditional admission policy (top 1/2 of graduating class, 21 or higher on ACT, college preparatory curriculum) while others are more selective

  • • Make sure to check the specific colleges' admission requirements

• ACT or SAT is optional at many colleges.  Check with the specific colleges if they require it.

• College Preparatory Requirements typically include (but may vary from college to college):

  • • English- 4 years

    • Math- 3 years (some schools require 4 years of math)

    • Science- 3 years

    • Social- 3 years

    • Fine Arts- 1 year

    • World Language- 2 years (of a single World Language)

• Examples:

  • • St. Cloud State University

    • University of Minnesota- Twin Cities

      • Many of the University of Minnesota system schools require 4 years of math

Private Colleges and Universities
