posted Nov 21, 2017, 10:02 AM by Megan Ramola

Many kindergarten classes celebrated their 50th day of school in 50's style! Pictured are kids from Mrs. Stach's and Mrs. Simmet's kindergarten class. Kids enjoyed taking a drive in a "50's Hot Rod" and took an
interactive quiz on their iPads comparing "Then and Now" using the website Kahoot!
It also happened to be Crazy Sock Day making their sock hop even more fun!

Mrs. Vesledahl's physical education class (along with student teacher, Daniel Rooney) practice the skills of point, step and throw at moving targets during the unit throwing and aiming. Check out this great video of her class playing "Duck Hunter" using balls to throw at the ducks on the screen.  The activity was a hit and will be used by all physical education staff at the Primary!

Looking Ahead - Assessment/Conference Days

posted Jul 13, 2017, 6:38 AM by Ryan Cox   [ updated Jul 13, 2017, 6:40 AM ]

We are already looking ahead and planning for an exciting start to the 2017-2018 school year. We will once again begin next fall with two Assessment/Conference days for students and families. Each student will have a scheduled 1-2 hour time slot to attend school with a parent on September 5th or September 6th . During this time, students will:
  • meet their new teacher and tour the classroom
  • read and complete a reading assessment with the classroom teacher
  • have their Lifetouch picture taken
  • participate in a hearing and vision screening (3rd and 5th grade students)
  • take care of business (emergency forms, lunch accounts, headphones, etc.)
  • visit the nurse with medication needs
  • tour the building and become familiar with staff
  • learn more about the expectations for their new grade level
This time together will allow our teachers to learn a bit about your child on an individual basis. It also provides the time for us to gather assessment data needed to address the individual learning needs of each student. We strongly believe this day helps staff, students, and families start the year off positively.

Beginning Monday, August 14th at 8:00 am, families will have the opportunity to schedule a conference time online. Parents will be able to access the conference schedule through their Skyward Family Web Access beginning on this date.

Primary and Intermediate Schedule
Tuesday, September 5th – 11:30am-7:00pm
Wednesday, September 6th - 8:00am–3:30pm

As always, we are committed to ensuring the success of each child. Thank you for your involvement and support.

PS STEAM Day 2017

Becker Primary Students were given the opportunity to explore STEAM Learning (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math) with students from the Middle School and HS Robotics Team. It was an amazing morning with students building structures, exploring art and design, designing water filters, and so much more. A special thanks to the many PS teachers who made this possible, as well as the older students for their support and role modeling.
