Students in Natalie Geier's 6th grade classes are exploring early engineering with Rube Goldberg Machines. According to Ms. Geier, "Think of the game Mousetrap...students had to complete a simple, everyday task (marble in cup, give their dog food, blow up a balloon) using 10 steps that would lead up to that task. Their machines must include five of the six simple machines." This project is also explored at a higher level in HS science as well.
Students were able to see that success will not always come on the first try, but that through hard work and never giving up, they'll eventually reach their goal.
