The following databases are provided to all students by the State of Minnesota. NOTE:  If you are at home, you can access these databases (with no login needed) and others at elm4you.org

Encyclopedia Brittanica
Middle school edition of the encyclopedia as well as magazines, websites, and videos. Also includes Learning Materials, a dictionary and thesaurus, atlases, timelines, and other features.  Great resource for factual information and images.

Research in Context
A middle school-appropriate database of reference works, biographies, magazine and journal articles, primary source documents, and multimedia.

Student Resources in Context
Magazine and journal articles, reference materials, and multimedia files covering all topics. Contains the following databases: Health Source-Consumer Edition; MAS Ultra-School Edition; and Science Reference Center.

Points of View Reference Center
Contains full text essays and articles that present multiple sides of over 250 issues.  This should be the first place you look if you are researching a controversial topic.

Proquest
Full-text articles from many newspapers, including: Star Tribune, Washington Post, NY Times, LA Times and Wall Street Journal. You can also access the Historical Minneapolis Tribune.

Academic Search Premier
This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 4,600 journals, including full text for nearly 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.
