Penny Challenge

7th graders participate in a Penny Challenge yearly at the Becker Middle School. Each Jumpstart (advisory or homeroom) researches and selects a charity to donate funds. It was announced at the Becker Middle School Talent Show that Ms. Feierabend's jumpstart won the week-long challenge. They chose to send the accumulation of all proceeds to the Sandy Lundberg Benefit Fund ($1,391.48).

Before moving to Arizona to become the principal of Casteel High School, Sandy Lundberg was a former band director in Becker at both the middle school and high school. Sandy was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer this fall and has been unable to work.

Our students continue to rally behind Sandy despite only meeting her for the first time via video chat this week. It is a tremendous privilege to deliver joy to a woman who continues to inspire many with her positivity and bravery in her fight with cancer.
