Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members:

As Superintendent of the Becker Public School District, it is my pleasure and honor to continue to make our school a leader in education and extracurricular activities. I am excited to begin to build on the improvements we have made in the past and look forward to working with an experienced and dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students.

Becker Public Schools boasts excellent test scores and student achievement as shown by their placement as a Top 10 School by U.S. News and World Report. As I continue to look around the school and community it is apparent of the success and support that has been developed between the school and community. It provides support that it takes a village to raise a child, and the members of the Becker School District and School Staff have worked hand in hand in developing a strong relationship to provide the best educational opportunities in the state for our students.

Prior to joining Becker Public Schools, I was an administrator, a classroom teacher in grades 3-8, and I coached students age 3 to the college level. I am originally from Greenwood, WI, I attended St. Cloud State University where I received a B.S. Degree in Education and played basketball for the Huskies. After graduating from SCSU, I accepted a middle school teaching and head boy's basketball coaching position at Jackson County Central Schools in southwest MN. Leaving JCC, I accepted an elementary teaching position in the St. Clair School District where I taught 4th grade, and also obtained my Master's of Arts in Education. My classroom experience also included time as a 5th grade teacher in Dassel-Cokato Schools, where I also completed my administrative licensure and started work on my Doctoral Degree.  Just prior to working in Becker, I was the superintendent of the Lester Prairie School District, I also was Pre-K-12 principal before my superintendent tenure.
My wife Kristi and I have a son, Matthew, a daughter, Piper, and our "puppies," Benny and Beckett. I enjoy family time, reading, various sports, travel, and continuing on my own educational journey.

Parents, teachers, support staff, community and administration all have important roles to encourage our children to become active, life-long learners. It is my sincere desire and initiative to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. It is also my desire to continue to provide opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.

Please feel free to contact me at the school, 763-261-4502 with any questions, concerns, or just to chat about the many educational opportunities we have for our students. Please when you see me around the school or in the community, stop and introduce yourself.

Through a common mission, goals, and curriculum I am confident our school will continue to grow and be a successful place for our students to prepare for adulthood.

Yours in Education,

Jeremy Schmidt
